and the numbers are...

Yesterday was my weigh-in day. Except, the numbers I saw were HORRID!! 161.0 pounds. Last week, when I re-started Weight Watchers, I weighed 159.4. I had a bad eating weekend. My dad's wedding Saturday, company all weekend, big BBQ yesterday. Guess Holiday weekends do that to you. Anyway, I wasn't happy with what I saw on the scale yesterday, so I stepped on this AM after I got out of the shower. Three times it said 159.0#, which means I lost .4#, and this my friends is the number I'm using for my weigh in! Then to top it all off, this AM I got AF at work, didn't think she should be visiting already, but I guess it's been a month. Blah! But, afterall this is a new week with lots of room for improvement!

Today's eats:

Breakfast:
  • 2 Eggo Nutrigrain Whole Wheat Waffles: 3 points

  • 8 oz 1% milk: 2 points

  • Total: 5 points

Lunch:

  • English muffin pizzas (light english muffin, 1/8 c. spaghetti sauce, 1/8 c. pizza cheese, 4 turkey pepperonis): 3.5 points

  • Diet Dr. Pepper: 0 points

  • Total: 3.5 points

Snack:

  • 2-Nestle Crunch Stix: 4.5 points (had a downfall moment, thank you AF!)

  • diet dr. pepper: 0 points

  • Total: 4.5 points

Dinner:

  • 1-1/2 cups oatmeal with 1 T. sugar: 5 points

  • 1c. 1% milk: 2 points

  • Total: 7 points

Total points used for the day: 20 points

Water intake: 44 oz.

Exercise: Chasing after the kids while working on the camper!

Tomorrow, I have some improvements to make. Get in more than 44 oz of water and eat better. Try not to give in to chocolate cravings induced by AF and exercise. We have a lunch and learn during lunch tomorrow, hopefully it's something good and healthy! :)

new day

Day four is starting out well so far. However lunch may be difficult. We're having a lunch meeting at work at Pizza Ranch. So it should be interesting however.

For breakfast:
  • 2 eggo whole wheat nutrigrain waffles: 3 points
  • 1/2 T. powdered sugar: 1/2 point
  • 8 oz 1% milk: 2 points

Breakfast total: 5-1/2 points

Off to work! Check back later for an update on rest of the day! Wish me luck during lunch today!

Okay, so I totally blew it at lunch. 16.5 points total. YIKES!!! We went to Pizza Ranch. I had a good size salad with fat free ranch dressing, a little cheese. Two small slices of Chicken Broccoli Alfredo Pizza. One small slice of dessert pizza and diet coke. That leaves me 2 points for dinner tonight. I knew it was a BAD idea to go there for lunch. But we were having a meeting and that's where the Doctor chose to go. It was that or Chinese.

I made a quick dinner for tonight. Left over rotisserie chicken cut up, left over Uncle Ben's Chicken and Wild Rice, and a can of Campbell's Healthy Request Cream of Chicken Soup. Hopefully it'll be good and low in points. I think I need to try and go for a walk or something tonight. But it is the season finale of Grey's Anatomy. Maybe I'll do some weights during that. Thankfully tomorrow is a new day.

an okay day.

Day #3, went okay. Not the best, but okay. We had a staff meeting at lunch today, so I tried to take it easy, but had a small piece of dessert. Also got in a 45 minute walk tonight with Kevin and the kids, so that was nice. I think I got about 66 oz of water in today and am drinking a little more as I type this. Not looking forward to the weekend and all the food. My dad is getting remarried on Saturday and they are having a catered meal and hopefully I'll have some healthy choices to pick from. Then Monday we're having a BBQ at Uncle Gene's. So I know that'll be another food filled day. At least it works in my favor that my weigh in is Monday morning, so I'll have a week to work around whatever it is I have on Monday. Hopefully I can do the best.

Today for breakfast I had my "McMuffin" and 8 oz of milk. Which equaled 7 points.

For lunch I had a turkey and co-jack sandwich on whole wheat bread, with tomato, lettuce, spicy mustard. For 6.5 points. A lot for a sandwich, but the bread alone was 3 points! Wowza! Then I had a small serving of Garden Salsa Sun Chips: 1.5 points. A third cup of watermelon: .5 points, and some baby carrots: 0 points. And a Diet Coke. My lunch total was: 10.5 points. Which included a small piece of a strawberry/cream cheese/pudding/graham cracker crust dessert.

For dinner I made a homemade pizza. I used Jimmy Dean Lite Pork Sausage and Hormel Turkey Pepperoni to make it. I had two small slices: 6 points. Some baby carrots: 0 points and a glass of milk for 2 points. So 8 points for dinner.

Points used today: 25.5
Flex points remaining: 33
Activity points earned: 2
Water intake: 66+ oz
Exercise: 45 minute walk pushing the stroller.

Overall the day wasn't too bad. I dipped into my activity points a little, which I hoped I wouldn't. But not too bad. Day three is over. On to day four.

day 2.

Well, today went well. One of the Doctors bought donuts, and I resisted. Normally I'd be all over them, I love me some chocolate custard filled bismarks. But I resisted the temptation, that and I was extremely busy all day!

I had the tastiest breakfast today. And "egg mcmuffin" of sorts. A whole wheat english muffin, 1/4 cup Egg Beaters with a little season salt, microwaved for 30 seconds in a Corning Ware custard dish, put on top of english muffin, topped with half slice of honey ham and half slice of Colby cheese. Very good and filling. Only5 points. But I think tomorrow I may cut the ham into quarters instead, it seemed like a lot of ham. Also, that would cut the points by maybe 1/2 a point.
Breakfast:

  • Egg McMuffin-homemade: 5 points
  • 11 oz 1% milk: 3 points (this was my meal breaker, but I love milk!)
Breakfast points total: 8 points

Had 44 oz of water before lunch.

Lunch:

  • Ham and Cheese rolled in a tortilla and warmed, handful of Goldfish Crackers, grape tomatoes and baby carrots: 6 points

  • 8 oz Country time lemonade: 1 point

  • 1/4 of a Hershey Chocolate Bar: 1.5 points

Lunch total: 8.5 points

I had a quarter of a Hershey Bar to curb my craving, so I didn't go back to work and grab a donut for "dessert"

I drank another 22 oz of water this afternoon.

For dinner we are having rotisserie chicken from the deli, Uncle Ben's Chicken Wild Rice, a couple deli pasta salads and veggies. We chose the rotisserie over the fried, due to the fat factor! I had a coupon to get a whole rotisserie chicken or 8 pc. fried chicken for $3.99. Just couldn't pass it up!

Dinner:

  • Rotisserie Chicken, small serving white meat: 3 points

  • 3/4 cup cooked green beans: 0 points

  • 1/2 cup Uncle Ben's Chicken and Wild Rice: 2 points

  • Small serving Cucumber and Tomato salad from the Deli: 1 point

  • 1 cup 1% milk: 2 points

Total points: 8

Snack:

  • 8 oz Country Time Lemonade: 1 point

The kids and I went for a 50 minute walk tonight with Kelly and Logan. It was really a workout pushing both kids in the double stroller. The combined weight of the two kids is about 50 pounds, plus probably another 35 pounds of resistance for the stroller weight. So I would say it was a good workout! I felt good afterwards.

  • Total water intake: 66 pounds

  • Total points used: 25.5 points

  • Activity points earned: 3 points (50 min brisk walk)

  • Activity points used: 1.5

  • Weekly Flex points remaining 33.

I think today was another successful day. Hoping it can continue, especially with the upcoming weekend/Holiday. I haven't had a pop since Sunday. Feelin' pretty good about that! I feel really good about this. I lost almost 25 pounds last summer on WW, I'm hoping I can lose the remaining 15 pounds. Here's to another day!

Back at it...day 1

I've decided I must change my eating habits! I've been eating too freely lately and am starting to get what I affectionately call a "fat ass", well not really, but I can tell my jeans just aren't fitting the way the did a few months earlier and I hate the "flab" hanging over the top of them. Blech! After losing almost 25 pounds from May-September of last year, I KNOW I can do this! So this morning I rejoined Weightwatchers.com and hopefully blogging EVERY day! We will see how it goes. Maybe if I post my food journal, that will help me out a little! Should be interesting with the upcoming Holiday!

Weight as of this morning: 159.6 pounds

Goal weight 145 pounds by August 1st.

I'm alloted 24 points per day with 36 flex points for the week.

Wish me luck!

  • 1 cup Kashi GoLean Crunch! Cereal = 3 points

  • 2/3 c. 2% milk over cereal = 2 points

Lunch total: 5 points.

Snack total: 6 points

66 oz of water down for the day. And it's only 4:20!

Now to start thinking of what to make for dinner.

Dinner

  • soft shell taco, with meat, cheese, taco sauce, Low-fat Sour cream, lettuce = 8 points
  • 1 cup 1% milk = 2 points

Dinner total: 10 points

Total points for used for the day: 26 points

Flex points used: 2 points

Goal for tomorrow: Stay within my 24 points. Drink lots of water and get out and exercise. It's awful cloudy/rainy here today. Maybe after I get the kids to bed I can hit the elliptical downstairs or at least the weight machine.

week 9...

Here is a quick recap of week 9.

Exercise: 4 days.

Water: not enough.

Points tracking: 3 days.

Pigging out: 2 days.

Weight loss: 1 pound.

We celebrated my family Christmas on my dad's side this weekend, so the weekend wasn't the best for eating. Friday night we had egg salad sandwiches and Pringles in the car on the way up. Exciting I know. I've decided egg salad definitly isn't my favorite, but it works for Lent and abstaining from meat on Fridays, especially if we're in the car!

Saturday we had a good breakfast, bran muffins, scrambled eggs, bacon and toast. Lunch we had potato and corn chowder...yum! And club sandwiches. Then some snacks later on in the day. And for dinner we had lasagna, salad and garlic toast.

Sunday morning before Mass we had butterbraid and orange slices. For brunch we feasted on my grandparent's famous buttermilk pancakes, baked ham, toast, and eggs. So it was definitly a pigout weekend! Plus I had a couple regular Dr. Peppers and a couple screwdrivers.

I was just happy to see a loss this morning! :)

Week 8 recap...

Well, week didn't go so well. I gained a little over two pounds. We've had a rough patch at our house the last two weeks. First were the fevers that the kids both had and then last week, everyone was throwing up and had diahrea with the exception of me! So after taking care of everyone all day, with the exception of Kevin, who took care of himself, by staying in bed! I was way too exhausted to workout and now I'm paying my dues today with my weigh-in. I didn't eat a whole lot last week, I was too busy with everyone to have time to think about eating a lot. Then yesterday, lovely AF arrived and I think that may be part of my weight gain. I feel so bloated and water logged that I'm hoping that's where some of my gain came from! I just can't seem to get below 155#. At least I'm staying below 160#, which should be my goal for the time being! I've also been slacking in the water department thses days. I need to get better about drinking my water. I use to be so good about it! I find I do better during the week when I'm at work than I do at home.

As I type this, I've given into my cravings and am eating a frozen swiss cake roll. Kevin ran to the grocery store for me this morning before work to get laundry soap and he came back with a box of Swiss Cake Rolls as well. He said "Since you have your period, I thought you may like some comfort food" Thanks dear! It was a sweet thought however, and obviously I gave in!

Like I always say, it's a new week!

week 7...

Goal by Amelia's 3rd Birthday (March 28, 07): 145#
Goal for the week: WATER, WATER, WATER!! Track everything and work out at least 5 days.
Well, I'm down a pound again. I feel like I'm on a roller coaster ride. Up a pound, down a pound. Hopefully next week will be down a pound again. I want to see that scale say 155 or less! I'm tired of seeing 157 or 158. I feel like I'm fairly on track with WW. With the exception of last week. We ate out Friday night, Saturday for lunch (Subway), while we were running errands. Then we ate out again Sunday evening. Friday night we even splurged and had DQ, which I probably would have been better off skipping, but a blizzard sounded so good. I only got a small and shared it with Amelia, which helped me from feeling so piggish! Also we didn't work out Friday-Monday night. Friday it was after ten when we got home from Matt and Kelly's. Saturday night it was about eleven when we got home. We had been to Kevin's dad's for his b-day and then went to visit Jim and Nickie (family friends/co-worker of Kev's) for a while. Then Sunday, we were just so beat after the kids went to bed that we went to bed ourselves.
I'm trying to keep a handle on portion control and really watch how much I'm putting into my body. I did work out tonight, 3o minutes on the elliptical and I felt much better about myself.
On to week 8!

new recipe---"Juicy Hamburgers"

This is straight off the WW site. They were GREAT! Just had to share the recipe. I'm trying something new here! :) Kevin really liked them too, as did the kids. I can't wait to have them on the grill this summer. We fried them inside last night on the stove.

Try them out...I'm sure you'll like it!

Juicy Hamburgers

POINTS® Value: 5
Servings: 4
Preparation Time: 8 min
Cooking Time: 10 minLevel of Difficulty: Easy

This Worcestershire sauce- and garlic-spiked burger recipe is part of our Perfectly Simple series.

Ingredients:
1 sprays cooking spray
1 pound uncooked lean ground beef (with 7% fat)
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp minced garlic
1/2 tsp table salt
1/4 tsp black pepper, freshly ground
4 reduced-calorie hamburger roll(s)

Instructions:
Coat a large griddle, outdoor grill rack or stovetop grill pan with cooking spray and preheat to medium-high.
In a large bowl, combine beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, salt and pepper. Mix well and shape mixture into 4 patties, about 1-inch thick each. (To retain juiciness, be careful not to overwork the meat.)
Place burgers on hot griddle or grill and cook 5 minutes per side for medium (or longer until desired doneness).
Serve burgers on buns with your favorite 0 POINTS value toppings.

Notes:
Simply add a few highly flavored ingredients to lean ground beef and you can enjoy tasty burgers in minutes. Great toppings for these juicy patties include tomato and red onion slices, pickles and spicy mustard.

If you try them out, let me know what you think! :)

week 6

Well this is going to be fairly short and sweet, as it's getting late and I just wanted to hold myself accountable and post on here.

I gained 1 pound from last week. But I believe it was due to my short comings for the week and I must hold myself accountable. Monday and Tuesday I worked out. I didn't work out on Wednesday (our off night--due to Kev being at Church), didn't work out Thursday (we went grocery shopping before the freezing weekend and it was 10:00 when we got home, then it was almost 11 by time we got the kids in bed and the groceries put away.). Friday we worked out. But skipped Saturday---we were feeling rather lazy---shame on us. Sunday I did work out---we worked out seperate, between the kids' naps. Monday I worked out in the morning while both kids were napping, for about a half hour or so. Also, I didn't track what I ate Weds, Thurs or Friday, but did do the weekend. And I didn't drink as much water as I should have over the weekend. Part of me thinks "well maybe the 1 pound gain is fat turning to muscle?" Ha! Wishful thinking! It would be nice however!

So far, I'm off to a good start this week. I did my work out yesterday, even though it wasn't as long as normal. I tracked everything yesterday. Today I ran on the elliptical for 30 minutes and my hair was drenched afterwards that I immediately hit the shower. So I felt really good about that workout. Plus I tracked everything I had today. Even the 4 molasses cookies that my mom sent me in the mail today. They are the best and I haven't had one in years. My great-grandma always had them at her house when I was a kid. And she passed away 8 years ago this past Novemeber. So that was a special treat. I may have to beg my mom to send me more in a couple months!

But this is a whole new week and I get a fresh new start!

Week 5

Well, I worked out everyday since Sunday with the exception of Wednesday, I decided to take it easy that night! I've done the elliptical for at least 30 minutes every night, last night I only did 20 minutes. I had a headache and didn't feel like working out much. I was only going to do 15 minutes, but pushed myself the extra 5!

Well I started this blog yesterday (Monday the 14th) and I am finally finishing it now! Last Monday when I weighed-in, on my regular weigh-in day, I weighed 159.0, and when I weighed myself last Tuesday, I weighed 157.0, somehow I lost 2 pounds overnight. Then Wednesday it was back up and then Aunt Flo reared her ugly head and I gained again. So I decided that I would stick to my normal weigh-in day and keep that weight! So this week when I weighed in I weighed 157.4, so I lost 1.6 pounds.

So far this week, I've been doing well tracking my food, tracking my exercise, taking it easy on the snacking, drinking lost of water and overall trying to take better care of myself!

Week 4

Well, it's been a week into the "New Year" and I'm on track...this far! I'm doing well with Weight Watchers, I'm tracking everything, I think the only day I missed was Saturday, other than that, I did well. We got an Elliptical and a weight machine so I can finally work out at home, which is great! This was my third night working out and it's getting easier. I'm sure in a month it'll be a breeze! I do 30 minutes and the elliptical and then 3 Reps of 20 ab crunches and 3 reps of 15 side bends. Tonight I only did the elliptical and the ab crunches, but yesterday I did the elliptical for an hour total, 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening with Kevin.

First I weighed in yesterday (my normal WI day) and I was up 1 pound from last week. Then I weighed in this morning to see if there was a change and I was down 1 pounds from last week. (down 2 pounds from yesterday AM) So that was exciting. I feel more motivated when I actually see a change in the scale. I'm less likely to give up as easy!

Weight this AM at Weigh-in (WI): 157.0#

Weight lost since last week's WI: 1.0#

Goal by Amelia's 3rd Birthday (March 28, 07): 145#

Goal for the week: work out, continue tracking EVERYTHING, drinks lots of water!

Wish me luck in the coming weeks! I could use all the encouragement possible. Thanks!

week 3 (missed week 2)

Well, I managed to miss week 2, I'll blame it on the holidays! But somehow I also managed to lose a little weight during the holidays. Go figure! But today I decided I wanted to be serious about the weight loss gig and really paid attention to what I had to eat and drink throughout the day. I didn't snack today. My dessert for the evening was a Granny Smith Apple, my favorite! I took it easy today and only went over my points by 1 point, so not horrible. Plus I did lots of walking at work, which is normal and then tonight when I got home I made several trips up and down our stairs to get various things to and from the basement.

My current weight: 158
My new goal: 150# by February 10th, 2008.
My personal goal for the week: Stay on plan, track everything I eat, drink lots of water and BLOG!
